This webinar will cover the essential information you should have in your professional toolbox for your work managing information and data in your role as administrator or manager in dialysis programs and units. The speaker will provide an overview of issues in healthcare IT such as security and privacy and what their implications are for dialysis centers. Changes to existing rules caused by COVID-19 will be discussed such as telehealth, reimbursement and technology requirements.

Webinar participants will learn about key considerations for clinical staff including workflow and the concept of ‘do no harm’. Best practices related to fiduciary responsibilities in terms of people, process and technology will be explored and the attendee will understand considerations for health IT administration such risk assessment and the critical security controls that are a part of best practices. Time will be allotted for question and answer with our expert speaker.

Joel has worked 15 years in medical informatics with EHR developers, HIE service providers, quality measures (clinical analytics) software/services, clinical trial informatics, content vendors, and remote patient management. He has served roles primarily within product management and informatics; further, he is a subject matter expert in HIPAA security compliance as well as clinical terminologies/ontologies for clinical decision support. Joel has previously served on boards for SNOMED as he represented the vendor community on international clinical informatics initiatives related to privacy, security, clinical decision support, content modeling, promoting evidence-based medicine, and informatics education.
